Why do I need the HAZWOPER refresher training?

OSHA is the main federal agency in the United States Department of Labor that has first introduced the HAZWOPER safety training courses to workers all over the country. These courses have been brought about to ensure that workers are safe at their workplaces and are trained in order to reduce the number of accidents, injuries and deaths at hazardous work sites.
Some of the HAZWOPER courses that are offered are:
•The 8 hour Annual HAZWOPER Refresher Course.
•The 24 hour HAZWOPER Training Course.
•The 40 hour HAZWOPER Training Course.
•Emergency Responder – Technician Level Training.
The 8 hour Annual HAZWOPER Refresher Course will have to be completed in 8 hours and the main prerequisites of the course is that all employees should have first completed the 24 hours and 40 hours of training. The course is important because:
1. It helps employees to identify and then reduce workplace hazards.
2. It helps employees to understand the OSHA regulations and standards.
3. It teaches employees how to develop an effective Medical Surveillance Program and shows them the purpose of this.
4. It teaches people the methods of decontamination, the various levels of decontamination and the basic principles of decontamination.
5. It teaches about the principles of toxicology and various types of chemical exposures.
6. It helps employees understand the potential hazardous situations that may involve corrosives, solvents, reactive chemicals and oxidizers.
